About Us
Woodcraft Training Services has been training students since March 2004. Many of our students are disaffected with mainstream education and we have been able to provide training and opportunities which re-engage them and give them the chance to get back into education and training, and from there into the workplace. We are currently working with students from the Stockton, Middlesbrough and Darlington areas, delivering City and Guilds (6217-01) and OCNNER.
The City and Guilds (6217-01) course is aimed at 14 - 16 year old students wishing to enter the construction industry when they leave school. The qualification requires students to attend for 300 hours, usually one day per week during years 10 and 11. During the course the students will pass a series of skills tests which involve making woodwork joints. They will build a portfolio which will contain evidence of learning and underpinning knowledge. They will also build a series of woodwork projects to help prepare them for the workplace.
Towards the end of the course, students will meet post-16 training providers and are encouraged and given help in applying for apprenticeships within the industry.
